Be an Ally: Best Practices for Working with and Supporting Transgender & Gender Diverse People

This workshop is designed for employers and those working with trans and gender diverse people. What you’ll learn:This workshop is designed for employers and those working with trans and gender diverse people. What you’ll learn:

•    Discrimination law in regard to LGBTQ+ workers
•    How harassment and unsafe work environments for LGBTQ+ workers affects us all

Supporting LGBTQ+ Workers in the Building Trades

This workshop is designed for the labor and building trades. The building trades has a problem. In the building trades we are often reminded that the need for workers is great but at the same time, there has been a challenge in recruiting and retaining LGBTQ+ workers. Why is that? This training supports employers, unions, and allies in gaining basic competencies around LGBTQ+ issues and how you can support, upbuild, and retain LGBTQ+ workers.

Utilizing data and personal interviews with LGBTQ+ trades workers, this training covers:
·      ‘State of the Field’ for LGBTQ+ workers in the trades
·      Increases competency on LGBTQ+ worker issues
·      Developing best practices to support LGBTQ+ workers

 

 

Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

Sexual harassment in the workplace is an epidemic that can have effects on workers safety, stress levels, and quality of life. While federal laws are explicit—sexual harassment is against the law—there is much that is not explicit. What counts as sexual harassment? What should you do if you’re experiencing harassment? What proof do you need?

This training is designed to:
· Give workers a well-rounded understanding of sexual harassment from a legal, social, and historical lens
· Teach workers tips on what to do when facing harassment


LGBTQIA+ In the Workplace

This interactive session will focus on LGBTQIA+ workers and their rights and is designed to inform LGBTQIA+ workers about their workplace rights.

This workshop is designed to:

  • Cover recent legal rulings that protect employees against sexuality or gender identity discrimination,

  • Discuss what ‘counts’ as sexuality or gender identity discrimination,

  • Best practices if you feel you are being discriminated against.
